Overview

Our mission is to find out how business is a central part of an ever changing world. From international companies like Coca-Cola and McDonalds to more local businesses like Jossals. The Business department runs a wide variety of subjects that are relevant to the world we live in today. The subjects cover a wide range of topics, including Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting and the Economic Environment.

Business also gives you transferable skills ready for the world of work or University. Skills include understanding how an organisation operates, communication, decision making, numeracy and presenting – just to name a few.

Many ex-students have gone on to jobs in Accountancy, Retail Management, Stockbroker, banking and some have even set-up their own business. Business is taught from Year 10 through to the Sixth Form.

Please contact Head of Department Mr S Healy for further information.

Equipment

Students will need the usual equipment : pens, pencil, rubber, rulers, calculators as well as an enquiring mind and a sense of humour.

Out of Class/Extra-curricular

In Business we offer a range of extra-curricular opportunities. In the Sixth Form, students can access a wide range of opportunities. Students also have the opportunity to participate in other business challenges with the University of Lincoln, the Bank of England and Young Money.  All students  are invited to attend different education visits that are linked to the curriculum.  We offer a tailored made approach to additional support. Support is available at most lunch-times.  Students can be directed to support sessions or just drop-in as and when is required.
